About Jack - The Founder of Harmony Soul

The Art of Sensing

A pivotal turning point came during a dance improvisation paper, where for the first time in years, I was invited to listen inwardly - through movement.

There, I learned about somatics: the practice of sensing. I began to understand that the body is always speaking - through sensation, through subtle shifts, through silence. It wasn’t just posture or pain; it was intelligence, waiting to be felt.

This deepened inner listening shifted everything. I returned to musical theatre, but this time, from a place of embodiment. Of presence. Of connection. That reconnection has opened doors to performing in Wicked at SkyCity (2023), Kinky Boots at Isaac Theatre Royal (2024), and many more shows. Each performance has become not just expression, but integration - where voice, movement, and emotion meet in real time.

That internal journey became the foundation of my healing - and the essence of the work I now offer.

The Stage as Research

For me, the stage has never been just a place to perform. It’s been a research space.

It’s where I studied the body under pressure, the resonance of voice, and the invisible emotional currents that move between people. I learned how sound can shift a room - and how presence can be a form of care.

That lived experience continues to shape how I hold space: with sensitivity, precision, and deep listening.

Sound Meets Science

Over time, I’ve come to understand that healing is not about fixing - it’s about remembering.
Remembering the wisdom of your body. Remembering your rhythm.
Letting your nervous system exhale.

In 2020, I discovered Reiki. It felt like home. A quiet, powerful language for healing that mirrored everything I’d known through movement and performance: that presence, offered with intention, can be transformational.

Then, in 2021, I was introduced to sound healing - and something clicked. Sound bypasses the intellect. It speaks directly to the body. To something primal. True. Still. Alive.

Currently, I’m digging deeper to learn about how sound interacts with the body, and acquiring new tools to help support the body out of stress.

A sanctuary for stillness, sound, and self-reconnection.

I’m Jack Lawton - Master Reiki Practitioner, sound healer, and performer based in Auckland, New Zealand.

My work lives at the intersection of art, science, and healing. I support individuals in reconnecting to their bodies, regulating their nervous systems, and rediscovering a felt sense of aliveness - through sound, movement, and presence.

A Life in the Body - Then and Now

As a child, I moved through the world with joy and imagination. The backyard was my studio - filled with flips, circus play, musicals, flexibility, strength, and moments of quiet magic. I explored the edges of my physicality with curiosity and delight.

But like many, I eventually lost access to that space. Life grew louder. Grief, pressure, and unhealed trauma pulled me out of rhythm - and away from my own body.

In search of answers, I turned to science. I began a Bachelor of Science in Physiology at the University of Auckland, seeking to understand how the body truly works. Yet something vital was missing. These systems, while brilliant, didn’t account for the emotional landscapes we carry - or how they imprint themselves into our tissues.

So I expanded my studies to include Psychology. In doing so, I opened a door to the mind-body connection - a space where science begins to meet sensation.

While I’m still rediscovering my own rhythm, every step of this path has brought me closer to wholeness. Reconnecting with the joy of movement, singing, and creative expression has become both healing and liberating.

This process - of listening more deeply, of softening trauma, of coming back into presence - continues to unfold. And it’s from that ongoing exploration that I support others in their own return.
